Where Do We Go From Here?

We're at the crossroads, and all we could track was our tears....how do we face another day in this state?

Dr. Rober Schuller once said:

"Failure doesn't mean you have accomplished nothing, it does mean you have learnt something;
Failure doesn't mean you've been fool to try, it means you were brave, you had nerve to go for something your heart truly believes in."

Do we curse at the world for the troubles that we're in? Do we stop being nice because the society is cruel? Do we give up when the system or our fate failed us?

No, because failure is never final, always believe that to be free from pain & depression, we have to learn two very important human values:

1) There are things/ people you can change

2) There are things/ people you can't change

So where do we go from here? I say we endure & we help those that are far worse than us. That's my satisfaction.

Singing the Blues

Clive Barker the great author used to write:

“Why'd you want to sing about sad things?" Candy had asked him.
"Because any fool can be happy," he'd said to her.
"It takes a man with real heart"
—he'd made a fist and laid it against his chest—"to make beauty out of the stuff that makes us weep.” 

So usually when we're upset, comes out the music players with a list of sentimental and depressing songs to either make or break us. But after months of doing that, I came to realise...

So I told myself that I'm not gonna dwell on having a bad voice but work on it. Let me share with you tips I pick up to improve on your singing as well as mine: 

1) Open your mouth wide, but keep the muscles around your mouth and jaw loose. This allows a richer, fuller tone.

2) Lift up your soft palate (gently drop the bottom part of your jaw). To do this, breathe in as you would before yawning but don't go so far as to actually yawn. Use your tongue to determine what makes you do it; this increase in space also provides more tone. It acts like a resonating chamber.

3) Remember to take in all saliva so your mouth is empty and the voice comes out clearer.

4)  Move your tongue forward so that it's touching the back of your lower teeth. You don't want to stick your tongue out, but make sure that it's not in your throat. Your throat should be relaxed and open.

5) Lip thrills or tongue thrills help to connect your breath with your vocals and muscles.

6) Compare the way an artist sounds in a live performance to the way he or she sounds in a recording. It is amazing what a good sound engineer can accomplish during a recording session. If you really like an artist's recordings, try to figure out how much is real and how much is engineered, before you decide that "you can never sound as good as that!"

Remember, when you're down, sing your heart out but in long term, you just want to sing it right !!!

Rarest But Most Beautiful

If you have watched Mulan cartoon from Walt Disney, there was a quote which says,"The flower that blooms in adversity is the rarest and most beautiful of all." 

We never really appreciate the biodiversity of our planet let alone protecting it from extinction. Recently someone discovered a sea slug off the coast of South Africa.

Commonly known as the blue dragon or blue sea slug, this beautiful little mollusk, Glaucus atlanticus actually absorbs the man o’ wars venom (it must be poison-type) and stores it in the tips of the finger-like appendages on either side of its body to use when preying on other fish. And since the venom is concentrated, it can actually be more lethal than the man o’ war it took it from. It’s Super Effective!

Beautiful isn't it? That reminds us of the beauty of the strange creatures that fills our ocean. 

Flash floods = Traffic Jam Chaos on 5th Sept 2012

Yesterday massive traffic jam was experienced all over Klang Valley especially those who were heading back to Kajang & Bangi. Some took close to 6 hours to travel from Petaling Jaya back to Bandar Seri Putra. Steps have to be taken to improve our country's drainage system as this should not be happening after so many years. Here are some of the comments experienced by drivers yesterday: 

MERDEKA - Discard Politics and Celebrate Independence

Every year , citizens of Malaysia regard Merdeka public holidays as a 'day to relax', 'to go shopping'  or 'vacation time'. As much as the thought of it is wrong, I don't blame them as currently the national day is being politicized.

Two parties hitting each other with different Merdeka themes dividing the people. Of course, everyone has to pick a side, but I think all this should be put aside on a day we celebrate the sacrifice of those who regain the sovereignty of the nation.

Therefore, I was almost losing hope in the current scenario when I overheard a song played on the radio a few times that caught my attention. It was a beautiful and neutral song that gave me a sense of pride on the independence of my country, Malaysia. Well written song, I CHOOSE MALAYSIA !!! (not any party with political agenda especially on Merdeka day)
